LAO ZHU AND THE FLOUR FACTORY is a photo project within the abandoned flour factory buildings near Suzhou Creek in Shanghai, China. The area was redeveloped into a park along the creek, with 3 smaller brick buildings being saved, and one large concrete structure slated for demolition. With much help from Steve Harris of M97 Gallery, I was given permission to work there by the neighborhood gatekeeper, and former flour factory employee, Lao Zhu. After documenting the site, I built the pyramid and hut during the last 2 days of my stay in Shanghai. Amazingly, the building was torn down only 1 week later.
